How much does balayage cost at Craft Collective?
Balayage pricing at Craft Collective varies based on your hair length, density, current color, and the level of color change desired. We recommend booking a consultation so we can assess your hair and provide an accurate quote. Consultations allow us to plan the best approach and set realistic expectations for your balayage result.
Do I need a consultation before getting hair extensions?
Yes. A consultation is required before any extension service at Craft Collective. During the consultation, our extension specialist will assess your natural hair health, density, and scalp condition. We will discuss your goals, recommend the best extension method for your hair type, and provide accurate pricing based on the amount and length of hair needed.
What color brands does Craft Collective use?
We proudly utilize Wella Professionals, R+Co, and some Aveda color. We choose them for performance, consistency, and hair health outcomes.
Does Craft Collective offer corrective color services?
Yes. Corrective color is one of our specialties. If you have experienced a bad color job at another salon, box dye damage, brassiness, uneven color, or over-processing, our team can create a plan to restore your hair to its best condition. Corrective color requires an in-person consultation because every case is unique.
What areas does Craft Collective serve?
Our North Hills location serves clients from across greater Pittsburgh including the North Hills, Shadyside, Lawrenceville, Squirrel Hill, South Hills, Cranberry Township, Wexford, Ross Township, McCandless, Mt. Lebanon, and beyond. Our Canonsburg location serves the South Hills and Washington County area. Clients regularly drive from across the region because of our team's expertise.
Does Craft Collective offer wedding and bridal hair services?
Yes. We offer comprehensive bridal styling including consultations, trial appointments, and wedding day styling for brides, bridesmaids, mothers, and wedding party members. We recommend booking 6 to 12 months before your wedding date. Trial appointments are typically scheduled 4 to 8 weeks before the wedding.
How often should I get my balayage touched up?
Most balayage clients visit every 12 to 16 weeks, which is significantly less frequent than traditional highlight maintenance. Because balayage creates a soft, graduated effect without a harsh root line, the grow-out looks natural and intentional. Your stylist will recommend a maintenance schedule based on your specific color and goals.
Does Craft Collective offer keratin treatments?
Yes. We offer keratin smoothing treatments that reduce frizz, improve manageability, and add long-lasting shine. These treatments are ideal for clients who want softer texture, faster blow-drying time, and smoother hair, especially during humid Pittsburgh summers. Results typically last 3 to 5 months depending on hair type and aftercare.
What should I do to maintain my hair color between appointments?
Use sulfate-free shampoo, deep condition weekly, use heat protection before styling, and wash your hair less frequently to preserve your color. UV-protecting products help prevent fading from sun exposure. Avoid hot water when washing your hair and rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle. Visit our hair care tips page for more detailed advice.
Is Craft Collective accepting new clients?
Yes. We are currently accepting new clients at both our North Hills Pittsburgh location on Babcock Blvd and our Canonsburg location on W Pike St. Book online or call 724-514-7231 to schedule your first appointment or consultation.
Does Craft Collective offer services beyond hair?
Yes. Craft Collective Salon Group offers a full menu beyond hair including nail services such as manicures, pedicures, gel, acrylics, and nail extensions, as well as skin care, facials, and lash extensions. We are a full-service salon destination.
What are Craft Collective's hours of operation?
Our North Hills studio is open Monday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed on Sunday. Canonsburg is by appointment. We recommend booking in advance, especially for weekend appointments, as they fill up quickly.
Can Craft Collective fix box dye damage?
Yes. Box dyes deposit metallic salts and other compounds that can react unpredictably with professional color products. Our team has extensive experience removing and correcting box dye buildup using specialized techniques. A consultation is required so we can assess the condition of your hair and create a safe correction plan.
What makes Craft Collective different from other Pittsburgh salons?
Craft Collective is led by Derek Piekarski, who holds global awards from Wella Professionals. Our entire team receives advanced training using the same techniques Derek has taught to salon professionals around the world. We use professional-grade color from Wella Professionals and R+Co, require consultations for complex services, and maintain a 5.0-star rating from over 800 client reviews.
